Woodson Routines: Guided Reading

Guided Reading is a process where students are asked to talk and think purposefully about what they’re reading.  This helps them develop critical thinking and comprehension skills while learning to read.

What Else?

When you’re reading to your child, ask them questions about what’s already happened, what is currently happening, and what they think will happen in the story.  Learning to read is important, but so is learning to comprehend and think critically in order to make logical connections, and this will help to develop those important skills.
